Leading changes – Empowering Climate Leaders

Time: 9:30 – 12:30

The European Green Deal presents significant challenges for European municipalities to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Local climate leaders are at the heart of this transition, tasked with making central well-argued decisions and engaging their communities throughout the process. When local authorities are planning investments (e.g. to maintain and renovate public spaces), adopting a systemic approach that takes the climate protection goals into account is crucial, as well as making well-informed decisions.

To effectively overcome this challenge, local leaders must possess a diverse skill set: clear communication, solid scientific sources for decision-making, ability to influence other and proficiency in distributive leadership models. Unfortunately, there are currently limited training options available to gain those capacities.

To fill this gap, the Workshop „Leading changes - Empowering Climate Leaders" will focus on building the capacities and strengthening the skills of local decision-makers who want to drive changes and influence decisions in order to accelerate climate transition.

We are glad to welcome the following speakers:

  • Isabella Katsimenis, Senior International Project Developer at Energikontor Norr, initiator and project partner of Remarkable Climate Leaders
  • Lina Widenmo, Projet Manager at Energikontor Norr
  • György Laki Mayor of Kajárpéc and, member of the Climate Alliance Executive Board
