All online participants will automatically receive the access link to the Zoom meeting after registration; a reminder email will be sent shortly before the meeting. Registration is possible through 30 June.
Voting
How will voting take place?
This year, all ordinary members will vote online via their computers or smartphones. You will receive the neccessary voting access by email directly from Votebox shortly before the General Assembly.
Who can vote?
Every ordinary Climate Alliance member has one vote – typically placed by the Climate Alliance membership coordinator. While membership in Climate Alliance is granted to municipalities as a whole, it is up to the municipal administration to decide who will represent each individual Climate Alliance city, town and district in the network and who can vote on the municipality’s behalf.
- Are you representing a member municipality? Then you are entitled to vote on behalf of your municipality.
- Will multiple representatives of your municipality attend the General Assembly? Then only one person is entitled to vote. Please clarify this internally in advance.
- It is not possible for a representative from your municipality to attend the General Assembly? Then you can transfer your right to vote to a representative of another member municipality with the following voter proxy form
Would you like to transfer your right to vote? In this case, please send us the voting my proxy form (download here as a Word file or here as a pdf) by 2 July 2025 via email with subject line “Proxy voting” to membership(at)climatealliance.org or via fax at +49-69-717139-93.
Have questions about voting by proxy? Feel free to contact us via email at membership(at)climatealliance.org or by telephone at +49 69 71 71 39 0.
Board elections
The term of office of five board members expires this year. They are all standing for re-election. In addition, there is one new candidate for the board. In order to strive for the gender-balanced composition of the executive board as stipulated in the statutes, an additional new candidate is standing for election this year.
Amendments to the Statutes and Rules of Procedure
Climate Alliance is a network of towns, cities and regions but at present, our statutes only allow higher-level regional authorities to join as associate members without voting rights. This is exactly what we want to change, so that from now on all local and regional authorities in Europe can become full Climate Alliance members and play an active role in shaping our network!
As a result of the proposed amendment to the Statutes, the Rules of Procedure must also be amended. The proposed amendments to the both documents as well as the final versions up for a vote can be found here:
- Statutes: Version with changes marked | Final version up to be voted upon
- Rules of Procedure: Version with changes marked | Final version up to be voted upon
Cologne Declaration
The Cologne Declaration stands as an impetus for our political work. What do local governments need to ensure that local action on climate protection and adaptation remains on solid footing in the long term? Feel free to discuss the draft declaration with your colleagues in the run-up to the General Assembly and send your comments to Thomas Brose, Climate Alliance Executive Director, by 2 July at t.brose(at)climatealliance.org.

*A formal resolution is not required for this declaration
Exchange with us during the General Assembly and help shape the Cologne Declaration. Together, let's make a statement – our network stands for solid and consistent climate action at the local level!
