Getting to Cascais
If you are coming to Lisbon by plane, please arrive at Lisbon International Airport.
How to get from Lisbon airport to Cascais
- By car: Lisbon International Airport is located about 35 km away from Cascais. It is accessible via the A5 highway, and the drive takes around 35 - 40 minutes.
- By metro and train:
- To get from the airport, you need to follow the red line to Alameda and there you need to follow the green line to Cais do Sodré. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes. The metro runs every 20 minutes, 7 days a week from 6:30 to 1:00.
- To catch the CP urban trains that travel from Lisbon to Cascais, first you will have to get from the airport to Cais do Sodré train station which is in the downtown area of Lisbon. The Aerobus Line 1 operates the route from the airport to the train station every 20 minutes and the travel time is around 45 minutes. The urban trains that head to Cascais depart every 15 - 20 minutes and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes.
- Regular urban train tickets cost only 2.20€. However, the first time you will have to buy a re-loadable Viva Viagem card for 0.50€ which you can use throughout the public transport network of Lisbon during your stay. Train tickets can be purchased from the ticket counters and automated ticket machines of the train station.
- The Aerobus tickets cost 4€ per person and can be purchased from the airport’s ticket counters, straight from the driver or online. The bus-stops of the Aerobuses are located just outside of the arrivals hall of each terminal. The journey takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- By taxi: Taxis are available outside of the Arrivals Level at terminal 1. Use the free shuttle bus if you land on terminal 2. A taxi from the airport to Cascais costs a flat rate of 35€ - 40€ from 6:00 in the morning to midnight and 47€ from midnight to 6:00. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes.

By public transportation
Buses in Cascais run daily from 6:00 in the morning to 23:15. Find the timetable here. The tickets cost a flat rate of 1,50€ - 2€.
The urban trains that head to Cascais depart every 15 - 20 minutes and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Regular urban train tickets cost only 2.20€.
By taxi
All licensed taxis in Cascais are available. The fare is charged on the meter, based on the exact location of your destination. Uber is also available in Portugal and highly recommended.
