Our funds for Amazonia
Taking joint responsibility for global climate action
Local climate action and global responsibility mean that we must prevent large-scale rainforest destruction. The Amazon basin is one of the world's largest carbon sinks and therefore plays a central role when it comes to protecting the climate. Our most important allies in this regard are our indigenous partners on the ground: without them, the rainforests of Amazonia with vanish in the long term. Together, we can strengthen indigenous peoples' rights while contributing to the protection of their territories and thus of the rainforests – with our Funds for Amazonia!
Our funds for Amazonia are open to all Climate Alliance members as well as other interested parties. By pooling resources, we can directly and unbureaucratically support projects both large and small across the Amazon region. Specifically, we offer three funds on three distinct topics: the Climate Fund for the protection of the Wampís traditional territory, the Energy Fund for the promotion of renewable energy projects in Amazonia and the Legal Aid Fund for the legal support of indigenous activists.
